About Roy

Hi, my name is Roy Wang.

My mission is to support men in their journey of coming back into their power, a path that I have walked and continue to walk.
I was your textbook Nice Guy: eager to please others in the hopes that they would like me, unable to move past the friend zone with women, and terrified of saying “no.”
It wasn't until I consciously chose to face this pain that I began to change my life. I’m a bold risk-taker in the areas of emotional, psychological, and spiritual self-work. It is one of my greatest attributes. Countless are the times that I faced my own psychological death and said, “Fine. I will die to the self that I thought I have known.” Countless are the times that I have spoken up in groups with a shaky voice while everyone else was paralyzed by silence. I carry in me the power of the Phoenix who dies in a burst of flame and ashes only to be reborn again and again. The longer it goes, the better I get.
As I stepped into my power, I began to see how this struggle is not unique to me. Many men today live small lives, carry repressed pain, and struggle in their relationships with women. This is where I love helping men better understand themselves. What truths exist beneath your defensiveness? What hidden stories drive your life choices? How would your life change if you dared face the mirror instead of run away? These are the questions that I am always asking myself and feeling into in my own life. It is for this reason that I am able to finely tune into the psyche of my clients. I poke where they’ve never been poked before and I bring life to the parts of them they thought were dead.
I desire to emanate the indestructible Phoenix fire into the work I am here to do. I want to take the gifts I have honed and refined through trials of fire and offer them as wisdom to others looking for guidance along their own hero’s journey.
May my fire warm you and burn you in the ways that are needed to serve your evolution.

“There is no better time to be a man than right now.”

Credentials

I formerly held a license as a Mental Health Counselor before retiring my license to pursue coaching. This decision was inspired by my desire to expand my reach and practice in a manner that genuinely honors what I have to offer to the world. I received my Master’s in Counseling Psychology at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. My training is primarily in psychodynamic psychotherapy with a focus on early childhood experiences and how those experiences unconsciously influence and direct present day behaviors and decision-making. I also draw upon guided visualization, meditation, and movement therapy techniques to access, express, and release repressed emotional energy.

Past experience:
  • One year clinical internship as a school-based counselor for middle and high school students.
  • Three years as behavioral health counselor at an in-patient facility for patients struggling with eating disorders.
  • One year as an intake specialist at a psychiatric hospital.
  • Four years as private practice therapist.
